Quantity Surveying Essentials is a 6-week course for quantity surveyors, cost engineers, and anyone responsible for preparing and managing the cost documents that drive construction projects. The course begins with the fundamentals of the QS role and the standard methods of measurement used across the industry, giving you the shared language needed to work with contractors, consultants, and clients. You will then practice take-off techniques in detail, learning how to measure both substructure and superstructure elements accurately from drawings. Bill of Quantities preparation follows, covering how to structure a BOQ and how to price it correctly so that it reflects real project costs. The course then moves into cost estimation, including elemental cost estimating and unit rate analysis, before finishing with valuations and variations, where you will learn how interim valuations are prepared and how to handle variations and claims professionally.
